Basic Core Class
Basic Core Class
The aim of the Basic Core Class is to provide you with information and exercises to enable you to maintain/improve your core stability and therefore facilitate daily functional tasks and increase body awareness.
The six week course will cover
- Anatomy of your trunk muscles
- Core setting – how to find and activate core muscles
- Spinal movements – dynamic core stability exercises
- Isometric core work
- How to continue and implement these exercises into your daily routine for life when the course has finished
If you have been participating in the exercises regularly and notice that your muscles and joints are stiffer, or it’s more difficult to access some areas when washing/dressing, please contact the Centre to discuss it with a member of the Therapy Team.
Certain things can contribute to an increase in stiffness for example, underlying infections, poor positioning/posture, constipation. If you are experiencing any changes with these symptoms please contact your GP, Consultant or specialist nurse.
Videos demonstrating the different exercises from each week can be found below. Note that you should only be doing these exercise if you have first been shown how to do them within the Basic Core Class by an instructor.
