Local runners took on the streets of Prestwood to raise over £9,000 to help support people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS).
Run Prestwood took place on Sunday 12 May and over 250 runners and children took part. The annual event raises money to support local people who have been affected my MS, a lifelong condition that affects the central nervous system.
The 10k race was won for the fourth year in a row by Charlie May from Aylesbury Vale AC, with an impressive time of 36.18. Kate Rennie from Dacorum & Tring AC was the first woman over the line in 39.01.
The children’s Ultm8 Warrior obstacle course was thoroughly enjoyed by kids and parents alike, with the slip & slide proving very popular in the warm weather.
Lots of local businesses offered their support, including main sponsors Leasehold Management Services, as well as Vanarama, Midcounties Co-Op, JNP Partnership and Prestwood Post Office. The event would not have been possible without the amazing marshals from the Rotary Club of Great Missenden and District, who made sure all of the runners were safe along the course.
The money will fund physical treatments and emotional support for those affected by MS, so that they can lead healthier and happier lives. Events like Run Prestwood contribute to the £1.2m needed to run the Centre every year. Each £150 raised could pay for two 1-2-1 hydrotherapy sessions, allowing someone with MS to improve their balance and strength so they can maintain their independence and walk upstairs to bed.
