DAF Trucks drives charitable giving forward

DAF Trucks UK chooses Chilterns MS Centre as its charity of the year.

DAF Trucks UK has extended its support for local charities to include Wendover-based Chilterns MS Centre.  The company has chosen the charity as one of its charities of the year and will be running and supporting fundraising events during the next 12 months.

The company chose to support the Chilterns MS Centre because it also has a family feel and looks to make a difference, much like DAF itself.

Trevor Mitchell, Parts Sales & Marketing Director at DAF Trucks and member of the DAF fundraising team welcomed the new partnership.

The Chilterns MS Centre was nominated and chosen by the staff at DAF after a number of them went to visit the centre last year and saw first-hand what great work they achieve and how much it benefits those affected and their families.

Closer to home one of our fundraising team’s father had MS, and so knew just how much support centres like this help those affected in improving the quality of life, and how vital funding is required to deliver this excellent care.

Sharon Cooper, Corporate Fundraising Manager, explains why these partnerships make such a difference.

We receive very little NHS funding yet the services we offer to people affected by MS can make such a big difference to their everyday lives, helping to keep them independent and less reliant on the NHS for longer. By fundraising for us, local companies help us to continue to offer these services for free to the people that really need them, for as long as they need.  Their support is priceless and we are very grateful to DAF Trucks for choosing us.

DAF has already begun its fundraising efforts by taking part in the charity tandem skydive organised by Chilterns MS Centre on 28 September.  You can sponsor them here.

The Centre welcomes any support from local businesses and there are lots of ways that your company can get involved.
