Carers’ Workshop: Understanding Dementia – Helping people to live well

This workshop is the last in a series of three on understanding dementia with a focus on helping people to live well. Hosted by Louise Joslin, representing Ashridge Home Care, and also featuring Agata Stepien, a Care Manager at Ashridge, the session will provide an overview of dementia including:

  • The SPECIAL Method (TBC)
  • Communication and rapport
  • Risk management, enablement, and strengths-based care.
  • Activities of daily living
  • Therapeutic care
  • Meeting behavioural needs
  • Empathy, coping skills, and self-awareness for carers
  • Signposting to other support services

It is being held as part of a series of free carers’ workshops hosted by the Chilterns Neuro Centre specifically for carers and family members.
